However, amongst all of these was something a little more...personal he was hoping to sort out while uncovering these mysteries. When he slips out he makes sure it's quite sometime before bed time just because he doesn't trust the words of there being a "break" just in case.
He then manages to make his way to Gerome's place, giving the door a few knocks, and waits patiently. ]
[ It's a good thing Roxas waits patiently because it takes a few minutes for Gerome to answer. He only opens the door partway, and, on seeing who it is, he opts to step out instead of allowing Roxas in. There's no armor today, but he is still wearing his mask. ] Yes?
I wanted to talk to you about something. Or...someone, in private.
[ Roxas figures he should try asking someone because he knows zero about relationships, but...he is kind of nervous about asking at all. If Gerome declines he'll just scurry off, simple as that. ]
To get straight to the point, I just thought you might have some tips because you're already with someone, and I'm not sure what to do at this point...with the other person I like.
[ For a couple seconds he actually thinks the "someone" is Owain. A love rival at this stage...?! Then, Roxas continues and he finds himself squinting in disbelief behind his mask. ]
And you want this advice from me? [ He's extremely incredulous. Surely Roxas came here looking for Owain. There's a deep temptation to go back into his room, grab Owain, and thrust him out the door to handle this.
But. Maybe this... is... for him...? That does not sit well. ] Are you certain? Even if I am— [ —in a relationship— ] —there must be someone better qualified to advise you.
I could ask the others, but it feels kind of difficult to approach them. Minato and Akira looked like they hit it off immediately, and I don't even know how to bring it up to Snake.
[ Roxas rubs the back of his head - nope he was not looking for Owain. Roxas likes Owain just fine, but Owain is Owain. While Gerome seems serious, more mature, and more ... experienced, even if the latter may not be true. ]
[ Observing Roxas carefully. Full disclosure? He still just wants to grab Owain and make him deal with this. This is not his forte. ]
If there is truly no one else, I could make an attempt. I suppose. But know this, it's unlikely I can help you. Not... with this. Battle strategies, weapon maintenance, and proper fighting stances would be easy. But this is not my area of expertise.
[ So a lot happened and Roxas was finding himself ... curious about the state of things. The blond had asked Vanitas as in-depth as he could about what had occurred, but he couldn't help but wonder about the whole story.
So here he was, in front of Gerome's door, and he gave it a knock. ]

[ He'll ask tentatively but not touch the door or anything until he's sure the other is in there, because Roxas has manners. ]
[ This time it takes even longer for Roxas to get a reply. It may be polite to knock first but when Gerome is injured and finds it difficult to get around? It's extremely inconvenient. Not that he would appreciate the invasion of his privacy.
At least he does eventually open the door though. ] Roxas.
[ That's the first time he thinks he's ever heard Gerome say his name - but more importantly, he does feel kind of bad making the other move around since he knows he's injured. Still... ]
I was wondering if you had a moment...to talk about what'd happened.
[ ... ]
I know it'd just happened so soon, but I wanted to try to piece things together as best as I could.
[ There's a very long pause as he stands in the doorway. He has no great urge to reopen healing wounds (and he doesn't mean the physical ones), but... He heaves a heavy sigh and pushes the door open enough for Roxas to enter.

[ Roxas knew about the possibility of it being scarring on account of Cynthia's death and Gerome himself brushing so close to the Grim Reaper, but at the same time...he kind of wondered if there was something he missed.
Or if Vanitas missed something...or otherwise. ]
Okay. So, Vanitas told me that he was out to get something to drink when he met up with you guys after seeing a bright light that was the moon. And then basically I guess you guys met up with Atsushi after trying to go outside, and then he transformed. After what'd happened to Cynthia...he said that you tried to protect him? And that you wouldn't be here if he had left you and Cynthia behind in the first place.
He said you were the only one who was able to do damage on Atsushi too and tried to use a plan with the staff as shields, but that they disappeared, and that you guys made a move for it with his darkness corridor to get to my room. But, it closed too slowly, so that's why you guys ended up like that. He also mentioned that you could've escaped on your own too, but I'm really not sure if I believe that, so...
[ There's a small pause. ]
If there's anything that was left out or missed, let me know, okay?
[ Roxas is sure that would've been a conclusion he'd reached at some point, but...
It kind of irritates him to have it said aloud, though - part of him had doubted he'd heard everything, though at the same time it wasn't really the whole point he was looking for Gerome's account. But he can also make his own conclusions about that response. That he really was hiding something. ]
That's not really the main reason why I wanted to hear what you had to say. [ ... ] But if you really don't want to, let me know, and I can just go.
[ He already knew that asking was probably a lot on Gerome anyway. ]
Not the main reason but a reason nonetheless. [ A sigh. A hard, hard sigh. ] I have no desire to involve myself in your relationship, Roxas. Whether you believe there's more to the tale or not—that's something you need to decide for yourself.
You came to me seeking an easy answer but this is the only advice I can give: trust Vanitas or do not trust him. Whichever it is? ... Be sure to tell him. He deserves to know.
Beyond that, keep this in mind—Owain did not go to Vanitas to confirm my story. You can decide what that means on your own.
Just know that I didn't come to you only just to confirm his story.
