[ The fact that he said his name shouldn't have stuck with him so much, but it did. It was the first time he said his name...wasn't it?
Roxas is there, in his black hooded sweater and matching winter pants. He'll pull his hood up. He doesn't consider hand - to - hand an option. ]
I don't like to go easy on people, so, yeah.
[ He says this now, but he summons just the one Keyblade for now - it's stark-white, but looks sharper than most. Then, he enters into a stance, barely able to keep his lips from turning upwards into a smirk. ]
Get ready to go down, Vanitas!
[ The blond will make a mad dash towards the black-haired male, his keyblade coming in low, in an attempt to hit anywhere a place somewhat low, specifically the stomach. ]
[ He's giving a wide smirk, not bothering to mask how much he looks forward to this. All of his pent-up frustrations and anger are leaking into his expression, at this point. And no way is he going to waste this moment - he's grinning quite a bit by the time Roxas is moving in, each shift in his stance done with the clear evidence of years' worth of practice.
With his reflexes being what they are, even in a place like this, he's able to leap out of the way just in time. He pivots quickly, aiming to slash at Roxas with his next move. ]
[ In a flash, Vanitas' Keyblade meets with another one of his that he'd summoned just to block the move in time - it's certainly not Oathkeeper judging by the fact that it's seems even sharper, and pitch black as the night. Then he twirls his body so can actually bring Oathkeeper towards Vanitas again, swinging the light-colored Keyblade low and towards the other's legs, an attempted hit so he can see if he can trip up Vanitas.
Congratulations on being the first person here to see him bring out a Keyblade - and dual-wield at that. ]
Oh, please... Only an idiot pulls out all their moves in the beginning!
[ Yet, he grins - a bit wickedly, at that - as his Keyblade collides with that second Keyblade appear; that's a nice surprise if he's being honest here.
Tripping him up almost works out, but Vanitas manages to leap back, out of the way, just in time. Not to say that's all he's going to be doing, at least; in one fluid movement, he's following up with an attempt at kicking Roxas. His effort will contain enough force to knock the blond a couple of feet back if it's successful. ]
[ And so the fight's truly begun. Wielder against wielder, keyblade against keyblade... ]
So, is that what you did just now?
[ He leaps into the air, just missing the attack, and then comes down to bring OathKeeper and Oblivion in a downwards strike, his attempt to hit not exactly aiming for anywhere particular on the other but it'd likely be towards a shoulder or thereabouts. ]
[ Like hell he's going to just throw all he's got into the fight right away. Master taught him better than that. He's learned along the way, too. Watch the opponent closely, learn all their moves, look for the weakness...
And, with Roxas holding two weapons, that means that Vanitas needs to watch his moves even closer. Which is what saves him some of the pain after the next attack sent his way. He brings up his own Keyblade, aiming to guard just before pushing hard against those Keyblades.
In the same moment he pushes, he's going to try kicking the blond away - aiming somewhere within the midsection. ]
[ When his feet touch the ground, he's able to see that the other blocked well. Not bad, not bad at all.
Roxas doesn't have any training at all, but he learned and still learns best by fighting, and so yeah, he gets kicked, but makes sure to slam one of his Keyblades (Oblivion) into the snowy ground to anchor himself so he doesn't stumble back. Then he almost immediately follows that up with a hard swing from Oathkeeper, more horizontal coming from the ground up from the left side. ]
Vanitas gives a slight grin, in spite of how hard he's hit. He lets his body get knocked back, rather than fighting it - lack of resistance means less of an impact, after all. In the next moment, he's leaping back, just seeing how much chasing Roxas will do. ]
[ It's been awhile since Roxas has really had a challenge...he's sorely missed it. Missed fighting.
Roxas leaps quickly right after him, as if it was the most natural thing in the world, going for making sure that there's not much distance between them, and beginning to bring Oblivion down in another downwards arc, attempting to catch him on the shoulder. ]
[ It's during the time that Vanitas is shifting his stance, Roxas manages to catch that shoulder. He grits his teeth, using the adrenaline that comes from the pain to fuel himself - he almost immediately brings a knee up, aiming to get the Nobody in the side before he has a chance to make his next move.
And, almost directly after that attempt, he's going to be swinging his Keyblade in an effort to hit one of Roxas' upper arms. ]
[ So you know, adrenaline's getting to him, and he's actually about to go in for another swing from Oathkeeper, thinking he has Vanitas where he wants him - then he spots Vanitas making his move. Albeit too late to move Oathkeeper in for block, judging by his very uncomfortable looking facial expression, and taking a step back involuntarily.
As a consequence, he also doesn't have time to block the follow up, and then of course there is a pained noise. But through sheer stubbornness, he's attempting to retaliate right after by making his swing with Oathkeeper lower and aimed towards Vanitas' legs. ]
... That does get him in the legs, so congrats! Vanitas hits the ground. He just also manages to swing his legs up and over, jumping right back to his feet. There's actually a pretty pleased grin on his face as he watches to see what Roxas' next move will be.
[ Vanitas sure is having a good time, and honestly? So is Roxas and a little bit of pain never so much as dissuaded him from that.
And it shouldn't be any surprise that he's running towards him now, eager to be on the offensive, and this time when he closes the gap, he'll suddenly dart to the side and swing Oblivion first at Vanitas to try to hit him on his left side. ]
[ That surprise dart comes as he's watching closely, so he manages to catch it just in time to avoid a full-on hit. He's able to grit his teeth and shove the weapon back, using that force to push himself back, away from it.
He'll have a small bruise there, but could be much worse. In fact, he's smirking. ]
Not bad.
[ But, his turn! He's going to be aggressively going on the offensive, each swing of his Keyblade being done with some calculated efforts, this time. ]
You're not bad either! Definitely more skilled than someone else I fought.
[ Aka Riku because yeah he's dunking on him a little.
Either way Roxas meets most of Vanitas' own swings well with his own, and with those he does, there's about as expected the usual amount of force behind each attack.
Though on one of them, he's caught on one of his arms, and then another on one of his sides right after because combos man. It's undoubtedly causing bruises even if Roxas gives it his best to soldier right through them out of sheer stubborness, even giving an attempted simultaneous double strike with both of his Keyblades in an X-like motion. ]

[ There is a hint of emphasis on the name... But, he will be showing up, once he's dressed in clothes that are meant for the outdoors.
With just a half-assed wave, he's cocking his head to the side. ]
So, then... [ summoning his Keyblade ] All out?
[ He reeeeeally doesn't want to do just hand-to-hand, but that's the thing some people prefer, apparently. ]
